On September 4, 2009, Fraser Milner Casgrain LLP completed the successful restructuring of the Jameson House Project, a $200 million 36-storey mixed use development project in Vancouver, British Columbia. In late October 2008 in the midst of the global financial meltdown, financing for the Jameson House Project collapsed and construction had ceased by November 2008. With guidance from an extensive team at Fraser Milner Casgrain LLP, Jameson House began its long restructuring by filing for protection under the Companies' Creditors Arrangement Act on November 14, 2008. Less than a year later, the restructuring was approved by the creditors and the Courts, including the Court of Appeal on an urgent timeline, and reached financial close. The restructuring was also pioneering in addressing pre-sale purchasers and their contracts, demonstrating the extensive benefits to developers of seeking protection under CCAA.
